Funding Your Degree
To help Richardson Law achieve its goal of expanding access to quality legal education, all Hawaiʻi Online JD Flex program students are eligible to pay the online tuition rate and fees which match the in-state tuition rate.
For the 2026/2027 term, the tuition rate is $990 per credit, making it among the lowest in the country.
There are also a variety of scholarships and financial aid opportunities to help finance and offset the cost of attendance including:
- Renewable Merit Scholarships - up to $7,000 per year
- Annual Need-Based Grants - up to $5,000
- UH Foundation Scholarships (for Current Students) - up to $5,000
- Unsubsidized Stafford Loans
- Direct PLUS Loans
Advanced Online Learning Platform
The Hawaiʻi Online JD Flex program includes 89 credits of coursework and lectures that are delivered through dynamic, remote instruction and assignments. The program includes live, virtual classes with vigorous discussion in traditional Socratic classroom settings and self-paced, recorded coursework that can be completed when and where it’s most convenient for you.
This combination of synchronous classes and asynchronous coursework allows busy professionals like you the flexibility you need to complete coursework on your schedule, while also giving you the ability to connect live with your professors and peers during synchronous virtual classes.
Students will also have access to online learning support including:

- Course reminders including those for important dates, missing assignments, and periodic check-ins
